Civics Education Initiative Launches on September 17th!By Civics-Ed about Learning Center

The Civics Education Initiative will formally launch in 10 states on September 17th, 2014. Our goal is simple: to pass a law in all 50 states requiring high school students to take and pass a test of 100 questions from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services U.S. Civics and History exam – the same test all new immigrants must pass before they can become U.S. citizens.

Unfortunately, while 92 percent of immigrants manage to pass this test, when students in Oklahoma and Arizona were surveyed, less than 5 percent of them managed to do the same. Shouldn’t our own students know as much about our government, history, and who we are as a nation?
